Yesterday morning, Brennan had his final basketball game of the season~ It also happened to be the Championship Game! As I've said before, Brennan's team isn't all that great: They have a few good players and the rest are there for the fun of it. Making it to the championship game was a stroke of luck (I know it sounds bad... but if you'd seen them play, you'd agree too). It didn't help that they were playing the very best team. Don's analogy was that we were the Islanders (really bad hockey team with little talent) and they were the Red Wings (great team with tons and tons of talent). The Gold Team has beaten them every time they played, and not just by a little. We're talking a blow-out! So it was expected to not win, which I think actually made the game better for the kids. They were less stressed about the game and more excited about just playing and getting a cool trophy while the other team was very serious and really wrapped up in the game. Because they were stressed and we were chill, the game wasn't a total killing: 29 to 18. Respectable. And Brennan got some great plays~ a really important rebound, a couple of jump balls, and some really good defensive moves. We were really proud of the way he played.
So now that Basketball, Swimming, and Boy Scouts (for the most part) are over, we are down to one activity for Brennan~ Karate, which will continue for the foreseeable future. The last 4 months have been hectic, but very enjoyable. Brennan's made some new friends and we've met some really wonderful people. I have learned my lesson though... we are not doing 4 activities at the same time again!
