Baby Update

Just to let everyone know:

The baby is due January 29th. I'll be having a scheduled C-section on either the 22nd or 23rd, so the baby might share the same birthday as Nathan!

I'll also have my 20 week ultrasound on September 5th and I'll let you all know then what we are having!

Coke Addiction

I know that everyone is aware that I have a slight Coca-Cola Addiction, but I had no idea that this type of addiction could be genetic. Whenever I get a Coke, it seems that half of it is gone before I even get some (I now know how my mother felt). I thought that I had it pretty much under control once I taught Brennan to ask before he partook and Nolan could only drink it if I held it for him. I have since learned the error of my beliefs!
The Story: After going to Fazoli's for lunch, I brought my drink home to enjoy. I put both boys down for a nap to enjoy some me time. I took my drink into the living room and placed in on the side table. Once the boys decided to get up, I let them run wild (like boys do). Brennan needed my help with something in his room and when I returned to the living room, this picture is what I found. Nolan had picked up the Coke from the table and was happily gulping the sweet nectar of the gods down. I grabbed my camera for the picture and just laughed. As I was putting my camera away (I just should have kept it out), Nolan tried to put the cup back on the table, but only manages to get less than half on. Once he let go, gravity set in the the wonderful drink turned into a wonderful mess!!! I picked up the cup and pulled Nolan back while I ran to get a towel. Second mistake of the day. I don't know if it is natural for children to return to the scene of the crime, but Nolan wanted to see what he'd done. Now, Nolan is a pretty good walker on carpet, but on hardwood, his steps are unsure as is. Add is some water and Nolan ended up belly-down in the cold soda. I think the cold scared him more than the fall, because the screaming was SOOOO loud. So, not only did I have to clean the floors, but I had to bathe Nolan as well.
Moral: Don't leave any soda in the cup for your children. Drink it all by yourself!

Baby's First Picture

Today I had my first ultrasound for the new baby. I know it's later in the pregnancy than it should be, but between moving and vacations, I really didn't have a chance to see anyone else. The baby looks great, but the technician wouldn't tell me the gender because I am only 15 weeks along. Sad huh? I really wanted to know! Anyway, the story isn't in the ultrasound because it was very typical. The story is in what happened before the ultrasound.

We arrived at the Baptist Medical Center about 15 minutes early, got checked in and sat down in the waiting room. We had been there maybe 5 minutes when the Fire Alarm goes off. As sad as it is to say, we all just sat there. We figured that maybe someone had burned something in the microwave or something silly. Shortly thereafter though, the PA system gave us the announcement that "There is a code red on floor 6. Repeat, Code Red on floor 6. We need everyone to evacuate the building." This would have been fine and dandy if I hadn't had Brennan and Nolan with me. As we proceeded to the elevators, they waved us to the stairs. It was too funny to see me carrying Nolan in his stroller down the stairs while yelling for Brennan to stop and wait. Brennan was scared to death that the building was going to fall down on us. When we got outside, we saw the fire trucks rush to the building. After 10-15 minutes we were allowed to go back into the building. The only thing was that Brennan REFUSED to get on the elevator. He kept saying that it was on fire and we would die if we got on, so we walked to the staircase, but the door was locked. It took about 5 minutes to convince him that it was okay to get on them. Oh, the drama for a few pictures of my baby!

Nolan's Birthday Pictures!!!

Nolan looks so much like Don- I sometimes feel like I didn't contribute anything! He has the same looks as both Don and Dylan and the same mannerisms. The only time I know that Nolan is my son is when he looks at me with the Larson Blue Eyes and I see my brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews.

One of my favorite photographs from when I was little was one that was taken with Stephanie, Jeff and Alisha. I love being able to see the similarities between family and the differences in age. Taking a cue from this, Steph and I decided to get Nolan and Nathan's pictures taken together since they are only 6 months apart. Aren't they so cute together? I hope that they realize how lucky they are to have a cousin so close in age!

Memories

Since nearly everyone I know in Blog-land is doing this one, I thought I'd join in!

1. Leave a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Scary Storms

Our Tree (above) and the Neighbor's Tree (below)

Last night was extremely scary- what started off as rain, turned into lightning, thunder, and wind within a couple of hours. After I put the boys to bed, I laid awake listening to the rain and branches hitting the house. Just when it seemed that it was starting to die down and just as I was falling asleep, the brightest light and loudest boom I've ever experienced made me jump a good foot out of bed. I was sure that we had been hit by lightening! After running to check on the boys (not even stirring), I sat up waiting to smell burning. Luckily, there was none. The night lasted forever as I laid in bed, listening to the wind gusts, thunder, and tree limbs snapping. I was sure that when I woke up, one of the trees in the back yard would be down.

When I got up this morning, I walked down the stairs to see that our neighbor across the street's tree had split into two, with half of the tree just brushing their house. As I looked at the park, with it's limbs everywhere and an entire tree split into three pieces lying on the ground, I just knew that something bad had happened. After feeding Nolan, I went around the yard. While the back yard was littered with tiny branches of leaves, there was a huge limb that had fallen from one of the trees in the front yard. Luckily, the tree limb fell toward the street and wasn't harming anything. After a few phone calls this morning, I found an awesome company, S&S Tree Service, to come out and take it down. Within 2 1/2 hours, my yard looked just like it did yesterday!

Nolan's 1st Birthday/ 4th of July

Although Nolan's birthday is July 3rd, we couldn't celebrate until the 4th because Don wasn't in Hot Springs. So on the 4th, we celebrated the birth of our nation and the birth of our son!

The day began with a trip in the boat to take Uncle Dave and Cousin Johnathan out on the skis. John was able to get right up on two skis and skied around the lake for a while. When he was tired, Dave got up on one ski (I was highly impressed!) . Nolan and Brennan loved watching them ski on the lake- Brennan even wanted to try it! When we went back to the house, Don wanted to go out on the jet skis. I love the jet skis, but I haven't been on them in two years. It was so much fun to chase Don and Brennan around the lake.

When we returned, we got ready for a huge BBQ. Gram, Elaine, Johnny, Theresa, Wesley, Luke, Rebbecca, Patricia, Calvin, Johnathan, Kimberly, Genna, Shannon, Gigi, Papa, Dave, Teresa, Brett and Sara were all there for the party and BBQ. While Nolan slept, we chowed down on awesome burgers and hot dogs, chatted, and played a rousing game of volleyball. It was so comical to watch everyone go at it and get so competitive over volleyball.

After the game, Nolan woke up and we decided that it would be best to sing to him when he was happy. Nolan had the cutest Blue's Clues cake (complete with musical notes drawn on). He was so enthralled be everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to him. It was so cute- he looked around and smiled at everyone and laughed when it ended! He didn't quite get the blowing out the candles part, so Brennan helped. Nolan was a little timid at first about the cake, but he really got into it when we held it up to him to take a bite. He's just like Brennan; he hates to get his hands dirty!
